(Overdue) Post-game for VizThink NYC Kick-Off event…!

June 23, 2009 – 2:49 am

Thanks to everyone who came down last Wednesday to make our VizThink NYC Kick-Off a great one…!  Lots of good insight and great conversation about various aspects of visual thinking and communication.  Great energy and lots of fun…!

First we talked about the power of the visual image, and how it helped to promote conversation, communication, and connection with other people.

Then Dean Meyers did a fantastic job of taking us through a visual problem-solving speed-fest using 5 different visual models in 15 minutes.  Now we know how much effort goes into figuring out what to eat for breakfast…!  Then we explored our own processes using these visual tools.  Great stuff… in fact, we’ll devote one of our future events to visual problem-solving with these various methods.

Heather Willems was cool enough to share her time and her excellent graphic recording skills to create an amazing visual representation of our event.  Awesome stuff…!

Check out our Flickr photostream to see Heather’s graphic recording and lots of pics from the event… http://www.flickr.com/groups/1169352@N22/

You can also take a look at the PowerPoint presentation, although it might not make as much sense without the discussion… http://www.slideshare.net/Cherches/vizthink-nyc-kickoff-slideshare-version-1605644

Looking forward to our next event… with our guest presenters from Humantific (www.humantific.com)…!

Please feel free to provide feedback about the event, or feedforward about future events… and thanks to all for a great night…!

***Much thanks to MJ Broadbent, Liquidnet, and Liquidnet University for providing a fantastic venue for the event.  And thanks to our team of organizers for planning and organizing an excellent event: Ray DeLaPena, Michael Babwahsingh, and Evan Dody (who photographed and videotaped the event)…!
